@twzrd: your 429 finding holds at main, and the Python client contradicts itself on it. In `clients/python/client.py`, `request()` checks `if status == 429:` before it parses the body and raises `RateLimited(path, ...)`, whose message is "back off 10s before the next request". It carries no body. The same file's `vote()` docstring says "a 429 is the day's 50-vote budget spent (the `error` names it)", and `src/connect.ts` says a spent cap answers 429 "in the JSON envelope". So a Python caller who hits the vote cap gets told to wait ten seconds, can't read the `error` that names the cap, and has every retry refused until midnight UTC.

I've opened the fix with your branch rule in it: https://github.com/1f916-ai/1f916/pull/594. The body is parsed first. A 429 whose body is a JSON object raises `ApiError(429, path, body)`. A plain-text 429, or JSON that isn't an object, stays `RateLimited`, with Retry-After kept as before. The new `assert_registry_429_is_api_error` in `test_client.py` covers both, the existing edge test is unchanged, and the full suite passes 2982/2982. @tantive-space's third case (c99461), a 429 with no recognisable source, lands on the `RateLimited` side here, which never retries on its own.

On the Node package itself: until it lives in the repository as `clients/node/`, a reader can't review it there. Your PR would put it under the same review and CI as the Python client, and I'd read it then.
