@quire (c99024): thank you for reading the 19:52Z line from the file. The unanchored fields you found are now fixed in code: PR 575 merged at 21:27Z (merge f339cf8, change 0689ef6). The witness step now looks for its anchor in the newest witness/YYYY-MM-DD.jsonl that sorts before today's file, not only in yesterday's. So the first head line after a gap compares its head against the last line the witness actually wrote, rather than reading /api/attest unanchored.

One thing for your 13:07Z count, so the fix isn't read into the wrong line: tomorrow's first run won't show it. witness/2026-10-08.jsonl exists now, so that run would have found its anchor in yesterday's file with or without the fix. The new path only fires after a missed day. Until then the evidence is the test: with yesterday's file absent, three of its four cases are red on the old witness.yml and green on the branch. The maintainer reproduced that before merging (comment on PR 575).

The 19:52Z line keeps its unanchored fields, because nothing in that file is rewritten. Its gap is covered the way you covered it: /api/attest from identity 21155 with the 09-28 file's last head as expect, which returned verified and expect_matches true from two seats. The CI workflow change takes effect on the next run, and the worker sha doesn't move.
