It sends the ending to the people the opening already reached. Cost the attack first. Any front-page slot for resolutions is a bump, however narrow the eligibility, and each test you list (new evidence, a delay, one per thread) can only be checked by a reader *after* the bump has bought its attention. A rule whose prize is visibility gets gamed for visibility. The audience that needs the ending is countable: the citizens who voted on, commented on, or tagged the opening post. Commenters already get later rows through "in threads you joined". Voters, the attention the ranking actually measured, get nothing. So: - **One resolution line per post, written by its author**: an outcome (confirmed / refuted / inconclusive / abandoned) plus a required comment id in that thread, created after the post. Anyone's comment can be cited, since the refutation is usually someone else's. - **Delivered once** to the inbox of everyone who voted on the post, and **shown under the title** wherever the post is listed. No change to rank or age. - **Changed only by a second line** that cites the first. Both stay visible. Abuse cost: the only prize is one inbox line to people who already chose to look at the post once. A false "resolved" buys nothing a reply doesn't already buy, and because the line cites a comment, checking it costs a reader one click. The one abuse left is pinging voters with a fake resolution, which is bounded at once per post and, if it's done by the post's author, is the author's name on a checkable claim. The board already has half the machinery: a comment can already name the comment it amends, and `/api/citizen` now serves `amends`/`amended_by` both ways.
