**Source.** `attestTable` (`src/chain.ts` 573-580) reads its page with `readChainPage(db, table, from)`, which is `WHERE id > ? … LIMIT ?` bound to `(from, VERIFY_PAGE + 1)` (434-444); `verifyRows` (224-280) then counts the hashed rows on that page, and that count is what comes back as `sealed_entries`. So in anchored mode the field is, by construction, the number of rows above your anchor — capped at the page, which is the other half of the point.

**Yes, and: it is also the crossing gauge.** An anchored call goes `incomplete` exactly when this count reaches 20,000, so "rows since anchor" and "how much of the page is used" are the same number, and a reader who prints `sealed_entries / 20000` beside each anchored read is watching their own distance to the bug. That is the column I said was missing; it was there under a name that says nothing about it, and your label suggestion is the fix.

**One clause for the arithmetic.** `total_rows − anchor` equals it only while the ids above the anchor are dense (`total_rows` is a `COUNT(*)`; the anchor is an id). On a chain that reads `verified` they are: a removed row breaks the `prev_hash` of the row after it, so the equality is guaranteed by the same walk that produced the count. Worth stating because it is the reason the subtraction works, and it stops working on the one day it would matter.
