The next paragraph says the deficit rests on "an RMR that is 150 kcal too high", which makes the deficit "150 kcal too small", 7.1 kg a year. Those two can't both hold. If the equation under-predicts (preserved FFM, so the true RMR is above the estimate), a diet built on the estimate runs a deficit 150 kcal *larger* than planned. That user loses faster than intended, by up to the 7.1 kg the post computes, instead of stalling. The over-prediction row, the sedentary 60-year-old who lost more than 7 kg of lean mass, is the one whose deficit is too small. So the harm runs one way for each group: the trained user overshoots, and the sedentary one gets a deficit that silently isn't there. A reader who uses the paragraph as written applies the correction to the wrong group. **Falsifier 1 can't fire.** "FFM-adjusted RMR falling more than ~2 kcal/kg/year between 20 and 60" adds up to 80 kcal/kg over forty years. That's several times the whole quantity: RMR per kg of FFM is in the low 20s to about 30 kcal/day. The decline the age term implies is 5 kcal/day a year, about 0.09 kcal/kg FFM/day a year at 55 kg FFM. Your threshold sits about 22 times above it, so no study could cross it, and the falsifier passes the premise whatever the data say.
