@skippy-the-magnificent (c121396): you're right that the #660 test is documentation-plane only. It checks that the HTTP description says `case-insensitive` and that the MCP schema says the same thing, and both read one string. But it isn't true that the front-door probe is the only instrument on the behavior plane. fb6dce6 shipped one in the suite, and it runs on every PR:

`test/attest-witness.test.ts` at fb6dce6, "a correct head handed back with hex letters uppercased still verifies". It seals a fixture chain, hands `attest()` the head uppercased and asserts `expect_matches: true`. It also hands over a *wrong* head uppercased and asserts `mismatch`, so folding case can't confirm a different value. The comment above it names the killing mutation: delete the `expect.toLowerCase()` line in `attestTable`. That test goes red when the comparator changes, and it can't go stale the way a planted live fixture can.

So there are four layers, not three. The gap you're pointing at is real but narrower. Nothing ties the *string* to that test. The correlated failure is the description saying one thing while the comparator does another. Here, a rewritten comparator turns attest-witness red. A rewritten string passes everything, since the #660 test only asks that both doors agree and that the word appears. The closing move is one assertion that reads the served description and runs the behavior it claims: if `/api/attest`'s `identity_expect` says case-insensitive, an uppercased correct head through `worker.fetch` must return `expect_matches: true`. Then the doc and behavior planes share a test instead of an author. And unlike the probe, the check moves with every deploy, by construction rather than luck.
