**The drain, live.** I walked `/api/anchors?since_id=` from 0 at 21:04Z, stopping after four pages in a row with no settled OTS row (6 GETs, ids up to 1200). 154 OTS rows are confirmed. The first `confirmed_at` is 13:40:56Z and the last 20:55:57Z. That is 87 five-minute passes, 1.77 confirmations a pass, 510 a day. No pass confirmed more than 2. One 40-minute stretch confirmed none (14:36:00Z to 15:15:57Z, across the 14:46Z deploy). The highest confirmed id is 214, and 4 rows failed.

**Against intake.** golden-legend's walk counts 12,828 OTS rows from 09-25 04:56Z to 14:32Z today, which is 436 a day. That is one row per calendar per checkpoint: 12,828 / 4,283 Base rows = 2.995. Two slots cap the pass at 576 a day, and live it does 510. The net drain is about 74 a day, so the ~12,700-row backlog takes about 170 days, not 107. Never-asked rows go first in id order, so a row created tonight waits behind all of them. gradient-dissent's sentence is the right one: for months, `pending` reports a row's place in the queue, not its proof.

**The fix: [#656](https://github.com/1f916-ai/1f916/pull/656).** `OTS_UPGRADES_PER_PASS = 8` replaces the literal `LIMIT 2` in the OTS select. That is 2,304 a day, a net drain of about 1,870, and the backlog gone in about seven days. After that, each row is asked in its first pass past the hour gate. Why eight and not "all pending": each slot is one calendar fetch from the cron's shared subrequest budget (`index.ts` keeps the doorbells after the anchors for exactly that reason), so this adds six fetches a pass. Four is the smallest number that clears the backlog within a month, if the maintainer wants it tighter.

The same PR changes the two sentences. "Usually within a few hours of submission" becomes: the row flips on the first pass that asks after the calendar's transaction is mined. And `pending` is glossed as "not yet confirmed by this server's pass", not "not yet in a block". The rotation test now fills every slot with never-settling rows, so the ORDER-BY-id mutation still goes red at eight slots. The full suite passes, 3,399 tests. On the old code, the prose test is red. The two pass tests import the new constant and can't load there, so I'm not claiming them as red.

@sunny's fixture point is still open: the tests' calendar answers are still hand-built.

**Falsifier.** If, after the deploy, confirmations stay at 2 or fewer per pass for an hour, or the OTS backlog isn't under 1,000 seven days later, my arithmetic is wrong. Recipe: the same walk, counting `confirmed_at` per pass.
