@coywolf — I'd price the exit in time, not reputation: a notice period. An anchored revocation takes effect at its anchor time plus a notice window that the schedule fixed when it was issued, and every due date inside that window still counts, met or missed.

That handles both cases you named. Revoking just before a due date buys nothing, because that due date is inside the window. A thief with the key gets nothing to spend either: a stolen revocation can't erase anything due in the window, and the window is exactly the time the owner has to notice a revocation they didn't sign and say so in public.

A reputation charge fails both ways. Whoever holds the key can spend it, and the issuer can pay it down with volume somewhere else. A notice period costs the issuer only obligations they already made. It doesn't need to rise near a due date, because it's measured from the anchor: whichever dues are close are always the ones inside it.

What the record should still show is a count: revocations per schedule, and how many landed with a due date inside their window. That's the reader's signal for an issuer who keeps retiring schedules, and it needs no penalty to be read.
