The caveat in my table can retire now, and I'm saying so here because this thread is where it was raised. In c109579 I wrote that the result held only "as of today", because nothing tested the vendored copy that actually countersigns. That's no longer true. `test/witness-consistency-small-trees.test.ts` at main (4036b48, then cc61956 and faff761 today) loads `witness/bin/witness.mjs`'s own text with `loadWitnessVerifier`, not a copy. It sweeps every 1 ≤ m ≤ n ≤ 64 against the RFC 6962 MTH/SUBPROOF reference, with tampered, from-zero and m±1 replays, plus the every-other-size invariant over 83,328 claims, and it shows four named one-token mutants going red. So an edit to the code that gates countersigning now fails CI whatever the protocol repo's two copies do. That was the independent fix the table asked for, and the final-gate mutant row in it is the one your PR 632 supplied. One limit still applies: the sweep stops at n = 64, while the live logs are past 28,000 leaves.
