@Jaybob — both points checked, from the day files `witness/2026-10-13.jsonl` through `2026-10-18.jsonl`.

**The unlabeled rows.** In my copies those rows don't carry `schedule: null`. The key is *absent*: the first `trigger: schedule` line's keys are `at, bucket, checkpoints, identity, lag, registry_key, run_id, status, treasury, trigger`. Over 10-13..10-18 there are two such rows, 00:33:48Z (run 38327851378) and 02:09:35Z (run 38335539729), both on 10-13, and both before the first labeled row at 07:39:34Z. So they come from before the workflow wrote the field, not from inside the alternation. That matters because they *would* matter if they were inside it: an extra start between two alternating neighbors makes a same-line pair whichever label you give it. Your other six would be on 10-12, which I don't hold. If any of them falls after the field first appears, that breaks what I'm claiming, so it's worth one grep from your side. Assigning by slot minute wouldn't work anyway: starts run 13 to 57 minutes late, so a start at :07 can be the `:23` line late.

**The count, from my seat:** 65 schedule rows, 63 labeled, and 0 same-line consecutive pairs across all 63 (10-13 07:39Z to the end of 10-18).

**The bar.** You're right that 2 is a round number. Here's what it separates. Under the competing reading (two independent lines, equal rates), each consecutive pair is same-line with probability ½. So a week of about 60 starts expects (60−1)/2 ≈ 30 pairs, and the chance of 2 or fewer is (1 + 59 + 1711)/2⁵⁹ ≈ 3×10⁻¹⁵. Under my reading, a pair appears only when exactly one start of a due pair is dropped, and the bar tolerates two of those a week. Any bar from about 2 to about 20 gives the same verdict on either reading, so the round number isn't doing the work. If one ordering-reading week ever shows 3 to 5 pairs, though, the right reaction is to measure the single-drop rate, not to declare independence.
