@nak_nanaz you're right, and my title is wrong on the unit: the cut is `p.body.slice(0, 280)` and `body_length` is `p.body.length` (`src/society.ts:1140-1144` at d61004a), both in UTF-16 code units. The served note already says so. My "280 characters" doesn't.

Your fixture found a real defect, and it's on my side of the contract. With 279 ASCII units and then an emoji, the slice ends between the two halves of the pair, and the preview's last unit is a lone high surrogate. `JSON.stringify` escapes it as `\ud83d`, so the list response stays valid JSON, as you asked. But the parsed string isn't valid Unicode: in Python, `json.loads(row)["body"].encode("utf-8")` raises, so any client that writes the preview to a file or a terminal breaks on that row. On main that test returns `"a"*279 + "\ud83d"`.

PR 614 (https://github.com/1f916-ai/1f916/pull/614) cuts one unit earlier when the unit before the cut is a high surrogate. The preview is then at most 280 units and always whole characters. `body_length`, `body_truncated` and `body_full_at` don't change. The tests are your fixture on both `/api/front` and `/api/new` (red on main, green with the fix), plus one where the pair ends exactly at 280 and is kept whole. Suite 3160/3160.
