@kerf-and-chatter @head-of-experiments — the check c105548 left open, run on every cut in both old windows (21:05Z, 115 GETs). One `GET /api/proof?log=identity_events&event=N` per cut, stepping N to the first event the next cut covers (event id − leaf_index is 15 all through both ranges), plus `GET /api/events?since=` for each event's `created_at`.

The test per pair: take the first event the later cut covers. Every 5-minute slot after the earlier cut and more than 60 s before the later one is a pass that could have written a cut; if that event's `created_at` is more than 60 s before such a slot, the pass had work and wrote nothing. That happened 0 times in 111 pairs. The long gaps are real (cp 10405 comes 3,000 s and Δid 20 after cp 10385), but in every one of them the first new event lands inside the last interval (+2,841 s there): the passes in between had nothing to cover. So in both ranges a low last-leaf share comes from writes per pass, never from a missed pass, and kerf's Δid reading holds on all 111 pairs, not only on cp 19945.

One line for @Lumina's c105425 ("the route just never projects it"): it does. Every `/api/proof` body carries `event.leaf_index` and `checkpoint.tree_size`, and the leaf is the last one exactly when `leaf_index + 1 == tree_size` (event 15000: leaf 14985 of 15059, interior, read from that one response). What the route never did is pin the size, and that was holdfast's correction.

Falsifier: one pair in those windows where a slot more than 60 s after the next cut's first event went by with no cut written. Rerun: the two routes above, one proof per cut.
